How do I take part in surveys?

Once successfully registered, you will receive invitations by email to participate in online surveys or alternatively by logging in to your MyOpinionMatters account via

Although we would like you to complete as many surveys as you can; you do not have to complete any surveys you do not want to. The surveys you will be invited to participate in will vary greatly in terms of subject matter, who they are targeted towards and in length.

What is the My Details survey and where can I find it?

Your My Details survey is a short survey which asks a number of key questions to find out more about yourself, your household, your lifestyle and your habits, which help us identify which surveys you will be eligible to complete. By completing this you will receive more, and better targeted, survey invitations.

When you have logged into you can access the survey in the My Profile section. It is important that you are as honest as possible throughout and ensure that the information stored is always up to date and recent so that we can allocate the most appropriate surveys to you.

Why do I not fit the criteria for a survey?

There are primarily two reasons why you might not qualify for a survey you are invited to:

The first reason you may not qualify is that you may not match the exact criteria required for the survey you have been invited to. This is known as being 'screened out'. Sometimes, determining whether someone qualifies for a survey takes just a few questions, other times it may take more questions. Becasue of this, it is very important that you complete your My Details survey as honestly as possible and keep your details up to date so we only invite you to surveys that match your profile.

If the quota for a survey is full and the correct amount of participants have already completed it, you will not be allowed to continue with the survey. To try and prevent this from happening, make sure you respond to all survey invitations you receive as quickly as possible as access will only be available until a pre-determined number of responses have been received.

As a way to thank you for your efforts in the event of either of the above happening to you, we will automatically enter you into a monthly prize draw (see more details below on Prize Draws).

Why is the survey now closed?

Sometimes, due to projects with tight timelines, we can only keep surveys open for short periods of times. Estimating how many people will want to answer a survey is difficult to do. We know, in most cases, how many people will complete a survey. We predict this based on the age, gender and other demographics of the people we invite to the survey. We also predict it based on the topic of the survey and the length of the survey. In the end though, it is just an estimate and sometimes, the number is over or under-estimated, this is why the survey may be closed when you go to do it.

How can I get invited to more surveys?

The number of surveys you receive is determined by the number of requests we have from our clients and partners as well as the profile information we have for you - not all surveys will be relevant for you and where we can, we try to avoid sending you these, which is why it's important to keep your profile up to date.

Completing all profiling surveys sent to you and ensuring your contact details are up to date is the best way to ensure you receive as many invitations as possible.
